Tuesday - new beginning

I intend to enjoy the rest of today with family and friends. Tuesday morning will bring about more strategic writing. The section we are on now in class will come in very handy for me to use for writing my job seeking letters! It has been said time and again that everything happens for a reason. I am very grateful to be back in school learning  new skills. I do wonder at my age if I am still marketable but I guess I will find out!

Memorial Day

I wish everyone a wonderful, memory filled day of loved ones no longer with you. Remember our vets they paid a price for us.

Fun in the sun

Oh tis Memorial Day!
cloudless blue and gentle heat float on this shifting dock
timeless bliss and drunkeness without the ticking clock

And listen! Can you hear? Friends arriving!
They best have brought their own beer.
Constant waves, ice, lime, and Jose mixing.
Oh poor soul who toils on solid groung today!
Life is good.... enjoy.

Lemonade out of lemons

Well. I lost my job Friday. My company did away with my position as  Radiologic Technologist. I was hoping to continue  working there until graduation next May but... oh well. I am forced to step out of my comfort one earlier than anticipated.

Lake Rat

It is definitely my time of the year. I love spring and summer as long as I am wet on a 100 degree day. Lake Rats have a saying, "If your project does not get done before Memorial Day, then it has to wait until after Labor Day!" My children were not allowed to tell me they were bored. They knew I would tell them to go outside and play. They entertained themselves by catching crawdads, fishing, or jumping in the lake. As they grew older , neighbors would call and inform me of their goings on. Have you heard of joyriding, when minors would cruise around in their parents cars? Well, my underage daughter took the speedboat out and flooded it and had to be towed home. She had no idea a neighbor had called to tell on her! Warm weather passes quickly for Lake Rats; so we arrange everything we do including shopping around daylight hours. Cute story about our youngest, who just graduated from high school. He was an early riser when he was a toddler and would come in to wake us up. Finally, we told him not to wake us up on the weekend until the sun was up. Have you guessed what he started doing? He would run and jump on our bed the minute the sun was up yelling "Suns up! Suns up!" Now, we receive calls from neighbors on the weekend telling us, "Suns up!" So it continues...

Mother's Day 2012

Mother's Day brought about many exciting events. Emma, my granddaughter was blessed at church with a dedication. She of course, sang louder than the choir, and eventually had to be taken out of the church due to her continued singing and happy jabbering! My daughter and boyfriend have purchased their first home to live in while she attends MU. How many of you have been attending graduations? I attended my nephew's graduation from Conception Abbey. He is quite smart; and now, has his third degree. His most recent this weekend was for Theology and Philosophy. He continues on his path of discovery towards the priesthood. He knows what ever he decides is fine with me as long as it feels right to him. Next, we attended our youngest child's graduation from high school. Boy, did I cry like a baby! Maybe it was from sheer exhaustion. Now, I need to start planning his graduation party this weekend.

Pay It Forward

I was reading an article in our local paper today about paying it forward. The ski club advertised they would be paying it forward this weekend by participating in the community's roadside-lakeside clean up. This includes picking up and hauling  items left lakeside or curbside marked ski club to the dumpsters being brought in. I found myself thinking wow, I live in a community where we teach our children to give back to their community. Life is what you make it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkt1jwMzbWE

Peggy's Blog of Emma

They say life is like a bowl of cherries. It is more than a bowl of cherries when a beautiful baby granddaughter enters the picture! Emma had her first swim lesson this week. Pretty impressive for a six month old, well at least  I think so. Her father was nine months old when he took his first lesson. She already has him beat. Ha. I am sure you can relat; it gets stressful going to school fulltime, and working fulltime. Emma pulls me through the rough days by just thinking of her; or looking at her picture.
